LIFL-11

Maps water quality along a vessel or aircraft track, in real time

A multi-wavelength LIF lidar that reads the upper water layer from a vessel or a small aircraft. At a station it records the full 48-band echo spectrum in about fifteen seconds, and underway it streams four selected bands at up to 10 Hz. It comes in two excitation models, 355 + 532 nm for chlorophyll, CDOM, and suspended matter, or 266 + 532 nm for oils, phenols, and tryptophan.

What it measures

Each parameter is resolved through its own optical process, and every return band is read from the excitation line that produces it
