LIFeLiDAR SAS designs and manufactures laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) LiDAR sensors for water. Mounted on drones, vessels, gliders, or fixed networks, the instruments read the fluorescence signatures of chlorophyll, dissolved organic matter, hydrocarbons, and plastics, supplying ground-truth data for environmental monitoring, scientific research, and satellite calibration. The company is based in Valbonne, Sophia Antipolis, and is backed by France 2030 and the French Deeptech ecosystem.
LIFeLiDAR SAS is a French deep-tech instrument company founded in 2022 in Valbonne, Sophia Antipolis. The company designs and manufactures Laser-Induced Fluorescence LiDARs — compact, low-power instruments that pulse UV and visible lasers at water and read the returning fluorescence signatures to identify and quantify what is in it. The flagship LIFL-11 records 48 narrow spectral bands per pulse across four channels, in ten seconds, detecting phytoplankton pigments, dissolved organic matter, hydrocarbons, plastics, and suspended sediments. The team is six engineers and researchers with combined decades of marine field experience and laser remote sensing research, with a track record of more than forty expeditions across six oceans and active peer-reviewed publication output. The company serves oceanographic and environmental research laboratories, regulatory and port authorities, industrial operators in water-intensive sectors, and space agencies requiring in-situ ground-truth data for satellite bio-optical model calibration.
